Introducing Los Gatos Chiropractor Dr. Christian Bartels

Los Gatos chiropractor, Dr. Christian Bartels

I was a skeptic thirty years ago… For years I suffered with sinus pressure and headaches... I thought it was something I would just have to live with… I also had cramping abdominal pain and weight loss while under medical care… It wasn't until I was recommended to surgery for my low back pain… Doctor after doctor gave me drugs that didn't work for intestinal cramping… Then I discovered Chiropractic… No more Sinus, No more Intestinal Cramping, No More Pain, AND No Surgery!

I have to say to start that I am not against the medical system.  However, watching my father have horrible health under specialists, and be disabled almost all of my life, I went to college to pursue a medical career thinking I'll just be better than them.  Along the way I considered my own philosophy about taking responsibility for my own health and decided to pursue a career that was 'proactive' rather than 'reactive'.  Considering how I got my health back on my own after two years of medical management failed, I changed my mind and decided to become a chiropractor.

I began in night school only because I never invested my time in high school.  The work study program is surely the reason I graduated.  Later in life when I decided to go to college, began with one course at night.  Shocked that I was tested at English 1A I took another class.  Getting A's in both I thought it was time to pursue full time and enrolled taking an average 24 units per semester and maintaining 4.0 grades.  The Chiropractic education was one of the hardest I endured and it demonstrates a high respect because the hours invested over the four year program are more than the typical MD.

My philosophy is to reach the highest level of impact educating the American public in disease prevention and health enhancement.  The dismal American statistics prove that a change is horribly needed.  And my comprehensive approach with lifestyle management, patient health education, and proactive body management is why I get medical professional and attorneys as patients.

I am a happily married father of three children (ages 29, 5, and 4) with a nurse practitioner wife.  She and I met when I was her tutor in college.  When away from practice life, I enjoy playing with my younger children and having lunches with my older daughter.  I also love getting exercise at the gym, swimming, and in outdoor activities like biking and hiking.  In my home, I am the main cook and I enjoy some gourmet healthy creations of my own and those of other chefs (famous types).  Admittedly, though, my days at the office go amazingly fast helping others regain or enhance their health.

I have adopted a weekly routine of getting chiropractic adjustments and my wife usually gets 1-2 adjustments per week.  My older daughter gets adjusted 2 times monthly (her asthma was eliminated with chiropractic as a preteen) and my younger daughters get checked at least once per week in addition to taking the best vitamins available while keeping active.  We all get massaged at least once per month knowing that it keeps structural blood flow at it's peak.  My younger daughters have not been vaccinated and continue to impress their pediatrician's with remarkable health despite my discussions with them about the issue.  And if they do get sick, adjustments with therapeutic vitamin ingestion boosts immunity and pushes sickness out quickly.  With proper diet, an active lifestyle, and regular chiropractic care I plan to live over 100 years.

Dr. B Asks some important questions of interest to Los Gatos residents - Chiropractor Los Gatos Dr. B Asks...

Can someone who has had back surgery receive chiropractic care?
Yes. Rest assured that we will avoid the surgically modified areas of your spine. However, what we find is that surgical interventions will often produce spinal instability above or below the involved level. This is will be the focus of your chiropractic care.
What's a side effect?
It may sound like a bonus; something extra, but chiropractors know it should more accurately called an "unintended effect," and "unwanted effect" or in some cases an "adverse effect." A pill can't come close to matching your body's ability to create and deliver the essential compounds it needs. That's when it's important to make sure your nervous system is working correctly—the purpose of chiropractic care!
